Scammers are among the biggest fears women face when dating within their 50s and 60s. You accustomed to only see online scams of men from under developed countries using pictures of models to lure women in.
Now local men are showing up online as faithful, moral, and successful eligible bachelors. They prey on intelligent, wonderful women who become vulnerable as they search to find love and share their life with the right man.
The Dirty John Character
A couple years ago Bravo TV brought this new predator towards the forefront of dating using the series called Dirty John. The real-life Dirty John was John Meehan, a dangerous psychopath who lured successful women into his world utilizing an amazing profile he knew would obtain attention on a dating site.
I've always said, if your man appears too best to be true, he's probably a scammer. As well as for sure, John would be a real-life, handsome scammer who also claimed to become a doctor. John touched women's hearts with the words he shared in the profile about his kids and just how much he loved them.
In real life, he was constantly threatening his ex-wife and taking advantage of those kids as pawns. He explained likely to church was something he did every Sunday, giving women the impression he lived his life based on morals and strong values.
Women read his profile and felt he was just the person they'd been looking for. On dates, John was charming and fun to be with.
He had some of the bad boy syndrome in that he knew what to tell make a woman feel valued in a man's eyes. He'd quickly profess love for his latest victim, telling her she was his true true love, someone he desired to spend the remainder of his life with.
Our Weakness
This is the romance we grew up with, so it’s not surprising they fell a hardship on John. But John in the real world was not the romantic he seemed to be. He was a cold and calculating drug addict who chose his victims according to their wealth and what he could take from their store.
Once he lured a woman in, he turned from charming to controlling and threatening. Most of his victims later shared how they feared for their lives and the lives of their children as a result of getting associated with him.
Yet strangely enough, almost all of they knew something wasn't quite right about John but that did not stop them from falling in love with him.
Intelligent and successful women were scammed by John Meehan. This can occur to any woman, which means you have to know how to protect yourself. It's why I want to share 3 tips that may help you stay safe dating at the moment in your lifetime.
Tip #1: Beware of Placing a Large amount of Value on a Man’s Looks and the Profession
I remember meeting a guy who I figured was drop dead gorgeous. He type of appeared as if Yanni when Yanni had long hair, and back in the day, that was a huge switch on for me.
We met in a restaurant so when I got from my car, I literally felt like my knees were going to buckle. Since I think back, I think I swooned because they i did so within the movies.
It was the strangest feeling and his impact on me helped me think he would be a good guy. With time, I acquired to know him and even though he wasn't a scammer, he wasn't a great man either. His looks were really like eye candy without a penny underneath.
Online scammers post gorgeous pictures of themselves knowing they can hook you using their high-quality looks. You see the image. You are feeling an immediate attraction and bam, he has got you.
You are now an ideal target for his scam. I really want you to understand that must be man looks good or includes a good job it doesn't mean he's a great man. Make him prove he's worthy of explore the other way around.
Tip #2: Decelerate and Focus on Red Flags
In the Bravo TV series, Dirty John meets a lady named Debra Newell. They've an amazing first date that goes south as he wants to stay overnight, and she or he says no. His anger flares, and that he storms from her home. That's a big red flag!
He calls the following day to apologize. She overlooks his first date drama and continues dating him. Within three months, this successful, wealthy woman is married to the man with no prenup in place.
Her kids can't stand him. And that is another red flag. In case your kids are supportive of you dating and do not just like a man, listen to them. Their instincts are often pretty good. Debra ignored this warning sign too as well as for a period of time chose John over her kids.
Debra and John had sex at the start of the dating process. At these times, you bond having a man, and it keeps you from seeing who he is really. Slow down the procedure for understanding someone. You shouldn't be afraid he might leave. If he does, he wasn't the right man for you.
Tip #3: If Nobody Knows Him, Check Him Out
If you find yourself getting involved with a man nobody in your circle of friends knows, it's worth checking him out. Debra was already married before her daughter hired a private investigator to check out John.
Had she done this earlier, she'd have saved herself and her kids lots of heartaches. Now I want to give you the scoop on somebody that will help you check a man out.
Julie Natashaway, an attractive, intelligent young woman in her 30s nearly got scammed with a man she met online who had been dating between jail stints.
Fortunately, the relationship went nowhere. But after this experience, she decided to create Aste.io to help women feel safe internet dating. If you're not sure about a man, I know she can assist you to the way in which she's helped a lot of my clients who weren't sure about a man they'd gotten associated with.
To sum this up- Always follow your gut instincts within the singles dating world. Don't ignore warning flags and if a guy doesn't feel right, he's probably not.
