What Olympian Adam Rippon’s Twitter Profile Can Teach us About Dating

    By hascasualdating

Unless you have been residing in isolation for the past few weeks, you may be aware of Olympic figure, Adam Rippon. Not only may be the bronze medalist a stunningly talented figure skater and outspoken, openly gay athlete with eyebrow game for several days, also, he has among the best Twitter feeds ever. If you're not following him, you're seriously not living your best life and need to go rectify that immediately. Also, he may be our next dating guru.

In among the best Olympic interviews ever, Rippon discussed his ideal sponsor. Long story short: he does not have one and can happily take any paying sponsors. Because he told CNBC's Ross Sorkin, “I love money.”

What followed was a tweet from CNBC correspondent Kayla Tausche, which highlighted the exchange: “Adam Rippon tells @CNBC he isn't picky and doesn't come with an ideal sponsor: ‘I really like money.'” Rippon then quoted the tweet having a hilarious two word caption: “Tinder bio.”

Even Tinder agrees that it was a tweet worth gold:

That’s a fantastic bio. We’d swipe right, just saying. https://t.co/wwPnnyDfME

    You and me both, Tinder.

When you are looking at dating, we're able to all learn a few things from Adam Rippon and the amazing Twitter feed.

    1. Be brutally honest about what you are looking for.

Adam doesn't skate around the bush. While speaking to CNBC he was completely and unabashedly honest by what he's looking for: money to support himself while he continues his career as an elite athlete. Through his honesty, he shone light on an important issue: that many elite athletes struggle to support themselves financially. So, whether you're looking for a sponsor or perhaps a date, there's no glory found in hiding your desires. If your romantic relationship is exactly what you're after: speak up. On the contrary, if you are just looking to help keep things casual, own it. You can't get what you want unless you ask.

    2. Tell the truth regarding your life.

While it would be simple for Adam Rippon to sugar coat his past and come up with a fairytale-like backstory (in the end, he looks like a magical Disney prince) he chose instead to be upfront about his life. “Six years ago, I'd nothing to my name. I had been living in my coach’s basement. I simply leased an automobile and I got a letter in the mail stating that my credit am bad that they needed to take the car back-..My coach co-signed around the lease to ensure that I possibly could keep your car and that he said: ‘I trust you. And I trust that you’re going to strive.'”

So, basically Adam Rippon may be the complete opposite of that dude most people have met online that claims he's a “successful entrepreneur” that owns “several homes and boats” — and we're 100 percent here for it.

    3. Self-confidence is everything.

I was recently asked within an interview what its like to be a gay athlete in sports. I asserted it's the same as as being a straight athlete. Lots of effort but usually completed with better brows.

    – Adam Rippon (@Adaripp) December 28, 2022

One of the best moments of Rippon's interview with CNBC happens when he looks directly into the camera and says, “you need me.” You maybe don't want to put that in your online profile, but because Rippon has shown us, there's something to become said about feeling better and secure in who you are.

    4. Get some things wrong. Grow from them. Grow.

There's always going to be negativity. Whether that's haters who want you to definitely fail in the Olympics or people who think you should just stop being so picky and “settle.” Don't pay attention to people who are just attempting to bring you down.

To all those who tweet at me stating that they “hope I fail”, I have failed often many times in my life. But more to the point, I've learned of all the setback, proudly own up to my mistakes, grown from disappointments, and now I am a glamazon bitch ready for the runway.

    – Adam Rippon (@Adaripp) February 13, 2022

Take it from Adam Rippon — rather than taking a look at mistakes as setbacks, see them as opportunities to grow and be even more badass than you are now.

    5. A sense of humor is everything.

    I mean ??♂ https://t.co/d96qkfzAUA

    – Adam Rippon (@Adaripp) February 19, 2022

We love Adam Rippon is because he is not afraid to talk his mind and laugh at himself. A great sense of humor is charming and won't will just win hearts, but will also assist you to bounce back from disappointments. While it's not hard to feel dragged down by dating, it's important not to go ahead and take process or yourself too easily.
