Ask your crush out. It seems like an easy enough task, right? Well, a British blogger is asking women to complete just that.
The internet illuminated a week ago when British relationship blogger Dami Olonisakin – who's known as ‘Oloni’ online – took to Twitter having a proactive approach for her female followers: muster in the courage to inquire about out their crushes for good, then share the screenshots on social networking using the tag #DateChallenge.
Here's what Oloni needed to say about her challenge on Instagram: “It’s been dubbed because the new Sadie Hawkins dance and I couldn’t agree more! Last night on Twitter after a little push Gurus women to message a man they fancied, #DateChallenge and to question on to start dating ?..but additionally post a screenshot. Used to do it to help make women well informed within themselves, men like it, and to remind them that it’s 2022, women can make the first move. Although guys have always been described as hunters, it doesn’t alter the proven fact that they’re still human and obtain cold feet. Why watch for something arrive at you when you can go and get it?”
The outcomes of the #DateChallenge were both encouraging and eye-opening.
Many of the responses were positive — like when Twitter user, Fayola Purcell asked her crush out via text.

Excuse me as i swoon!
However, a few of the responses were less than favorable. One man responded by saying that he'd “rather die” (not cool, dude) and another pointed out that the timing was off, as he was “getting married next week” (ouch.) Predictably, there is additionally a slew of pervy messages that suggested a date will include various body parts and unmentionable acts.
Despite the mixed responses, we should still consider the #DateChallenge a raucous success. Here's why we ought to all ask out our crushes – for better or worse.
1. You receive an answer.
The unrequited longing of a crush can feel torturous. Finally asking someone out ends all of that waiting and wondering – and often that is what you need. Even if the answer you receive isn't answer you would like, at least you know in which the body else stands and may proceed with your lifetime.
2. It's empowering.
Instead of waiting around for another person to make the first move, you're taking the bull by the horns. After all, you cannot get that which you don't request, right?
3. Men want to you to result in the first move.
According to complement.com’s annual Singles in the usa study, 95 percent of single men ages 18 to 70+ are in favor of the woman initiating the first kiss and also requesting a guy's phone number. So, what exactly are you awaiting? Go ahead and take pressure from the body else and ask first.
4. It'll provide you with the closure you so desperately need.
Crushes have the tendency to tug on and take up huge swaths of emotional energy. So, while no one wants to get a rude and humiliating response such as the ones mentioned above, how one chooses to respond to you says much more about them than you. Negative responses allow us to release and proceed to other people who are interested in our affection.
5. They may just say yes.
Life is short. If you don't ask your crush out now, when? Bear in mind: they may just say yes and you'll wonder why you didn't ask sooner.
