HasCasualDating is a judgment-free guide for adults in the U.S. who date casually, whether that means a few app dates a month or something more spontaneous. We’re interested in one thing: helping you meet people with less risk and more respect.
Why we started
Dating apps make it easy to meet strangers. They also make it easy for strangers to pretend to be someone else. Fake profiles, romance scams, sextortion and unsafe meetups are real problems, and most advice about them is either buried in legal pages or written as if nobody should be dating at all. We wanted something practical instead.
What you’ll find
- Meeting safely: first-date checklists, quick ways to confirm a match is real and how to keep your profile from giving too much away.
- Online risks: how romance scams and sextortion work, what to do if you’re targeted and how app subscriptions bill you.
- Health and respect: consent, STI testing, early red flags and ending things kindly.
How we work
We write for every gender and orientation, and we keep things practical rather than explicit. Our guides draw on the Federal Trade Commission, the FBI, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and established support organizations such as RAINN and the National Domestic Violence Hotline. We use AI tools to help research and draft, and we check facts, figures and phone numbers against those sources before anything is published.
We don’t take money from dating apps or websites, we don’t review or rank them, and we don’t run ads. We’re not doctors, lawyers or counselors; for personal medical, legal or safety decisions, please contact a professional or one of the hotlines we list.
Questions or corrections are welcome on our contact page.
